Who We Are
Our Story
At The Rio Play Book, we believe every young athlete deserves the chance to play—regardless of their financial circumstances. Sports keep our minds focused, our bodies active, and our lives moving in the right direction. I know firsthand how powerful sports can be; without them, my life could have taken a very different path. That’s why we provide financial assistance to help youth athletes stay engaged and supported in their journey.
Additionally, we offer educational programs that introduce both young athletes and Military Veterans to financial literacy, as these essential skills often aren’t taught enough in schools or at home. Learning financial discipline early not only builds confidence but also fosters stability and long-term opportunity. Through our partnership with the Arizona Council on Economic Education, we explore effective financial strategies—such as budgeting, saving, and investing—and equip athletes and Veterans with the necessary tools to build a nest egg and prepare for a stronger future.
Supporting our mission to help Veterans understand the significance of financial literacy is especially meaningful to me. During my time on active duty, I wished I had access to the kind of financial education we provide today. This knowledge could have aided me in building a nest egg for a down payment on a home, creating a financial cushion to ease my transition into civilian life, or allowing me the time to find the right job to support my family. These are real opportunities that financial literacy can create and contribute to empowering communities.
